Took my boy to Deep. Cold, winding, raining, hailing... We trolled a bit and could tell it had not been stocked yet. So we just found a good place to drop some worms on lite gear. It paid off will five cuts caught! I would consider this my "home" lake and this is first time we've caught cuts. We were pretty excited. He caught four and I caught one. All were released..

Question? Is there anything wrong with holding the fish with a towel while getting the hook out? Not sure if that's better then bare hands. Or maybe just leaving in the net is best..

Thanks for reading...

Way to go on the cutts! From what I have read and heard - Best:leave in net, OK: bare hand and No: on the towel. If you do use a towel, wet it first. The cutts I gotten in Deep Lake came from the east shore with all the downed trees. Try trolling back and forth in front of input stream on the north shore for silvers.

Nice looking time with your son. Agreed... towel is no good. Think of it as a dry item, leaching the slime off the fish. In the water/net release with wet hands=best. (-:

agree with both on the towel. I always were latex gloves in case I have to handle any fish that has to be released just to keep it safe. Great report!

pretty cool I've seen a lot of fish out of that lake but never cutts!
