Had to to really struggle with where to go on my day off to fish. I finally decided to go to one of my favorites, I82 Pond #6, to try for perch, crappie, bluegill, or whatever.

Immediately got a really nice bluegill (surprisingly) off the island, followed by a perch. Figured I was in for a killer day, but then it cooled off. Plenty of bites, but I suspected small fish. I made the terrible mistake of forgetting my anchor for my pontoon boat, and even though flags were hanging limp in Tri-Cities, there was periodic 10 mph winds in the lower valley (including Pond #6 - it would blow pretty unpleasantly, then just die to nothing, followed by another blow). So it made it really difficult to work one place once things looked good - I had to keep hitting the electric motor to fight the wind. And all I needed was my damn anchor....

Worst of all, in one of my attempts to battle the wind with the electric motor, one of my best fishing rods (a St. Croix ultralight, with a nice Shimano Stradic reel) somehow managed to go overboard - I looked back, and it was headed for the bottom in about 12-14' of water). So if you guys see a dude in a wetsuit, mask, and flippers tomorrow diving off a pontoon boat tomorrow in I82 Pond #6, that'll be me trying to get my effing rig back. Man, that **really** pisses me off. I'm not giving upon my $275 combo that easy...

That said, the pond is looking very summer like. Plenty of bluegill in the shallows (presumably many getting ready to spawn). Lots of bass (some very nice ones) cruising the 15' deep water about 5' down. I'm pretty sure I was marking crappie on the electronics, but couldn't figure out a presentation that worked (I seriously don't know how Jiggy and fishinChristian have figured out crappie as well as they have). A better fisherman would have had a nice day on the spiny rays, IMHO.

Hey Tom. Sorry your nice rig went for a swim! Fishin' Christian have had our ups ad downs on those ponds as well. I would've hooked up to fish with you but I had a doctors appointment friday. I hope to get out and toss aline with you soon. Hope you like the Jigs I sent you. Take care and good luck finding your pole! Jiggy
