8/5/2013 8:03:00 AMThe State will never leave Sprague alone! They think it is a place to raise trout. It does grow some huge trout that eat snails and taste like MUD. I've caught some beauties at different times of the year; the only time they are remotely edible is in the late fall/early winter just before ice up.
The lake should be definitely left alone as a self sustaining spiny ray fishery; think of the money that the WDFW could save and use elsewhere like boat launch docks so us old gezers can get in the boat!

Sounds like the Bass had a great spawn, perhaps in a few years, if the Gills and Crappie get a foot hold........
You did not catch a berbot, or burbot. What you caught was a Sculpin, most likely a mottled Sculpin. They are native and did not get killed out during the rehab. They are an important source of food for the Bass, large Trout, etc.
