We have seen a week of cold clear nights and mild sunny days the last week. Lake Chelan's lower basin has pumped out mostly typical sized lakers (2 to 6 pounds) at a very good clip. These fish have come on U-20 flatfish and K-lures in depths of 220' to 250'. The surface temp on Lake Chelan has hovered between 39.5 and 40 degrees F.
Rufus Woods Reservoir has produced mostly hatchery sized rainbows with the occaisonal triploid. The kokanee have disappeared for the moment. Both the smaller and larger rainbows have fallen to Hot wings, wedding ring and a nightcrawler combination.
The cold nights have prevented Roses Lake from thawing. My grandson is chomping at the bit to get those jumbo holdover rainbows.
