Went to Lake Sammamish again today. It was a balmy 38 degrees and overcast when I started at 10am. I took my boat out to the central part of the lake North and West of the Weather buoy and found the seagulls picking the surface along with all the other ducks and water fowl. It is a pretty cool sight to see actually. Every year around this time there is a chironomid hatch going on in the lake and the birds are gorging on them as they hit the topwater. Anyway.... I fished for about 4 hours and caught and released 14 fish and lost about 6 others. A lot of the fish were cookie cutter size at about 12" but I caught a couple nice fish too. The largest one today was about 18" and very healthy and colorful (picture attached.) however, the picture doesn't do it justice.

The water temp has gotten down to 45 degrees and I trolled for the trout using Needlefish(brown trout color) at about 15 feet down at a speed of about 1.75 mph I didn't think the fishing would stay as hot as it has with this wicked cold snap we've had, but it seems to not have affected the fishing. I hope the bite continues through at least this weekend!

Cheers!
