My friend and I fished last week at Mattoon in Ellensburg. We went to college at Central, so it has always been a fun place for us to fish and remember the good times we shared together. When we got up in the morning it was 15 degrees, so we quickly made coffee and got our poles in the water. The fish didn't start biting until around 9:00 am in the morning. We caught eight fish, but not much size to them. We used mostly green power bait, floating it off the bottom of the lake. A guy next to us caught a five pounder. Boy! What a big trout. One thing that has changed at Mattoon is they no longer allow you to camp over night. Maybe they will change that rule before opening day this spring.
