I know I know I know..... knot er not my favorite lake but I went again. Friend calls says he can only go out for a couple hours and it is Off Day gotta Go Fishing Monday.

He arrives at Ballinger right at noon - and I'm running a hair behind. We get the boat on the water and off we go. Charged batteries and working depth finder. We head directly for the south end of the lake today. No piddling about.

By the time I get my gear in the water he's had 2 hits, both lost. Next was my turn. I'm using my brand new Okuma Celilo rod. About 8' 6" long ultralight on popgear. I'm thinking this is gonna be a blast should I hook anything up. Rod bounces and I pounce. Fish is yep on. 1 down. Back into the drink it goes. In about 30 minutes I have my first three then the major hit occurs. I would have rated this a 5 but some sneaky nice sized trout is now running around the lake with my pop gear as the line broke as the fish got the side of the boat. Bummer. Happens. Good news I have more gear with me.

Eventually the winds pick up and the fishing kind of slows down. By the time I'm done for the day I've limited out and my friend is still trying to get one to stick. On my final fish I jokingly try and had the rod to him.... revenge for all those years of trout fishing where he's catching and I'm stuck watching.

Method used: Trolling Pop Gear
Bait and Hook: Worm and Rainbow Power bait.

Weather: Nice for the first hour then the winds started up.

Biggest fish caught.... well that one took the pop gear... dabnabbit but it was way bigger than the 10 and 12 stuff we otherwise got.

Entertainment for the day: Both eagles soaring. 1 Osprey. Somebody in a Kayak with a parrot on board.
