So you think silver salmon or coho are the same as sockeye. I don't. Landlocked sockeye would be called Kokanee. What you are fishing for is landlocked silvers. Just making sure I'm hearing you right. Congrats on good fishing though.

Thanks for the report. Kind of important to use the correct terminology. There are no Kokanee in Riffe Lake, ie, Silver salmon or coho yes, sockeye, no.

You must like controversy to mis-label fish consistently and then justify doing it (or you like getting corrected!). Whatever floats your boat, just don't think everyone appreciates that mode, seems sort of "contrair" thinking. You know, when you think you know whats best for everyone even though most of us think it's sort of "wacked". Bob R

I can remember back as early as 2000 that Kokanee in Baker and Shannon lake were called silver trout. I didnt know that until I started targeting kokanee. On pg 11 of the regs there is the definitions of kokanee which is specific for sockeye and just below that is the one for land locked salmon. On pg 64 for Riffe lake you would see there is no kokanee/sockeye in the lake. Kokanee only refers to land locked sockeye salmon that is why there is the other definition for land locked salmon some lakes have coho and some have kings. I was corrected myself on this site and others. I did my research on the names/definitions and found there is a difference in the names. I have become a huge kok fanatic. I have bought books, make my own gear, bought light action rods just to target kokanee. We are all a fishing family here and are here to have fun and share out success or lake there of also helping build a data base for bodies of water. Get tips and make new friends. I agree with Bob R that you must like controversy and you call yourself kidkokanee. I took my family down to Riffe for vacation last year and it was fun. Those coho fight different and taste good. I enjoyed the report side of the success and I think the Tomato's tomoto's would go good on the salad with your feast.

I think he should change his name to "kidcoho" to cover all bases! Bob R
