Got on the lake late, about 9:00, headed to the north west end with every body else. We started out in an area we had not fished before, it's about 1/4 mile before you get to the burn area. The first 15 mins. we had two in the boat and then of course we loose a couple and then a few more hits that just don't stick. At 10:30 we had six of the largest Sockeye in the boat that we have seen this year. The later it get the fish seem to be getting larger, back at the dock I over heard a guide talking on the phone about a monster fish they got and having it weighed. These fish are still in great shape and Delicious. I debone my fillets then rub about a teaspoon of brown sugar into meat until all the sugar is melted, then finely grate a small amount of orange peel onto the fillet. I have all of this on aluminum foil (role the edges up) and put it on the bbq for about 10 mins. or until the meat flakes apart. It will be so moist with a hint of sweet orange it just melts in your mouth.

Size 0 dodger, 3 bare red size 2/0 barbless hooks tied about one inch apart, six inches from the eye of the top hook to the dodger. No bait or scent allowed. We are going from 60' to 80' with Cannon downriggers using 10 pound coated balls. I bet they will run this fishery until the end of August. The Wenatchee River is still full of fish headed for the lake. Get away from the mass crowd of boats and you will find a better bite. Just a hint, don't be afraid to fish the south shore 220'-240' of water, this is the most under fished section of the lake.

Our fish seemed to be getting smaller last weekend. Average was down to less than 3 lbs. good job on getting bigger fish. I'll be back over on Saturday and Sunday for another shot. Have you been using 3 red hooks all the time?

No I used two hooks and 12" leader like most people until last when I was talking with my a guy staying at the same RV park we are at. I had noticed that every time he went fishing he would bring back a limit. He shared his method and it improved our caught rate the next day. Also with three hooks and the six inch leader most of the time one hook will be in the mouth and the other two will hook the head and we do loose as many fish during the fight. FYI 59er diner has cabin for rent and full hook up RV for $20 a night. Also Midway Village( by Fish Lake) has cabins and there full hook up RV spots are $30 a night. Mid way is a very nice park with a store and gas with out ethanol. Gas in this area is $4.50 to $4.80 so you might want to fill up before getting here.
