10/14/2014 2:04:00 PMGood to see the cats plated are doing well. However, I was not aware of a size limit on channel catfish in Green Lake. To my knowledge, it is open to 5 fish with no size restrictions, per the statewide freshwater rules.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try next time I'm on the waters. Problem with floating bread is the ducks and other birds try to take their cut. Also makes casting a bit of a pain.

Your absolutely right, I've been reading everywhere for info on Green Lake, and apparently mistook this from the WDFW website:
"Catchable-size Channel Catfish (8-11 inches) were last stocked in Fall 2011"; Either way, I'm a complete catch & release guy. I've been catching a lot of catfish on worms, and once on powerbait. I'm not sure what else they go for. I remember reading somewhere that channel catfish prefer live bait where as bullheads don't mind dead bait.

11/23/2014 11:00:00 PMPretty catfish. I have only caught brown bullheads. That was at Cottage lake 1-2 pounds.. nice fat fish. Most of the time I let em go but I did keep one once and gave it to friend.

I've managed to fish a few lakes in the Seattle area, but I have not yet caught any brown bullheads. I'm told they exist in Green Lake, but never had any luck. Around this time of the year, the temps have dropped and I imagine the main fish to target right now is trout(in most lakes). I've also learned that with catching catfish, sometimes the hook gets swallowed real deep, if your planning to release them, best to just cut the line and let the hook dissolve itself. I'll have to try Cottage Lake sometime, I'm guessing it's probably too cold right now for bullheads?
