Fished potholes reservoir Saturday afternoon. Got on the water around noon. Hit the humps out by the dunes and it was on. Got my personal best walleye unfortunately the pic doesn't do justice. It was 30" and hit 14 lbs. Also got four other nice keepers using blades baits in silver. Caught five largemouth and several decent perch. Water temp was 41 degrees and was a beautiful day.

Nice, when does the water start going back up? I only go over there in the spring or summer.

Piranha the water is up, they raise it when they drop moses. And to Woodfish this is why I stopped posting to these sites, I understand your thinking but it is up to the individual to make that choice and shouldn't be ridiculed if he chooses to keep such a fish. Now whether it is stated it is still implied. Just a little lesson it's not necessarily the huge females that produce the best that's why they have slot limits. It's actually the 20-26 inch females that produce the best brood stock. But to answer your question ALL fish were pictured and released unharmed and swimming around the lake looking for there next meal.

Beautiful fish Lonnie! I will be around Christmas time and hope to get out there and see what is still biting. Potholes is full of spawning size fish, and if you would have kept that one for the wall or table it would have not hurt the lake's population. Females that large do not have the most healthy eggs for spawning rather it is the 18 to 26 inch fish that keep a lake healthy with the next generation of walleyes. Many studies around the country have confirmed that fact. With that being said, I generally release larger fish also so someone else might get lucky enough to catch them, but sometimes I keep the larger ones which should be done in healthy populations like Potholes or Moses. I am glad you posted and good luck on your future trips.
