Fishing solo, I launched my small boat onto Horseshoe Lake. The skies were cloudy, temperature quite cool, a little mist and some breeze. Not ideal for bass fishing from a small boat. Only one other boat on the lake - a trout angler in a kayak. Don't know how he was doing - we had no conversation. Fishing was tough but one considerate little 10 incher saved the day by keeping me from getting skunked. He liked the looks of my Rapla 11 BP (Bleeding Pearl). I snapped a quick photo of the little fellow. He looks like he is in a lot of trouble with the red hooks but with a pair of needle nose pliers I removed the hooks quite easy. He was barely harmed and released at the same place he was caught. I did see one nice bass on a nest that looked to be about 3 pounds. I didn't spend much time with her because of the wind. I fished with jigs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and floating Rapalas. The lily pads are starting to show but many are still under the surface. In spite of the slow fishing, the cool and breezy day it was nice to be on the water and getting casting practice. The Black Birds were out in force on the cattails and willows and singing their great songs. Irises are blooming along parts of the shoreline.

Hi Amx - Yes, there is a fish photo mixed in with the scenery pics. It was a close call - small bass or another scenery pic. I do enjoy all the flora and fauna while fishing and consider them important on fishing trips. However - I included a picture of that monster bass because I thought it was somewhat a record holder bass. Probably the biggest bass posted on WashingtonLakes this year by an angler over 85 years old.

Bothellbassman - Thanks for the kind comments

But the bush picture looks like a fish in front of the left corner of the bush. lol

Oh, the photo of the new bass habitat where the big pine tree is in the water. The glare on the water does look a little like a fish.

Ya, the tree, not a bush. I'd better go out to the boat and get my glasses. lol
