Son Don and I checked out Mason County's Deer Lake. Definitely a four-wheel drive into the lake. We launched a canoe and fished around the small 12 acre lake looking for bass. We caught about 10 to 12 bass each, all on top water lures. Most of the bass were under a pound but a few were chunky 13-14 inchers. Bass habitat is almost entirely old logs. There is very little aquatic vegetation in the lake. If you fish this lake, please plan to release most of the fish. Lakes of this size cannot with stand much intelligent bass fishing pressure.
