5/15/2015 1:29:00 PMYes it is true. But most of us are very protective of the big fish and release them so they can reproduce, and so have more Bass that have the genes to grow big. After all, the WDFW doesn't raise or stock/plant Bass, so we have to be sure that they can reproduce the best specimens on their own. :-)
And just think, if 1 person kept one 17" plus Bass every day all summer long, just how bad that would decimate the population. Then think of everyone keeping a 17" plus fish every day all summer long. That's thousands of kept fish, and all those with the best genes. The Bass would be decimated in one or two years.

Please don't take the replies as busting your chops.. but AMX says it very well..
Regulations are just words on paper... there is nobody within the WDFW who is preserving bass in WA. state lakes.. So people who really love fishing these fish, are the only ones who can preserve the fishery, by protecting the fish. (notice I didn't say releasing, lol.) you know what I mean, though..
These fish are targeted HARD by a lot of people, and most of those who target them, aren't even reporting on them, to keep it quiet, etc.
Anyhoo.. I hope you get to keep catching nice fish like that. Thanks for sharing.

5/15/2015 10:55:00 PMI understand I just wasn't sure why the negative comments. I do the same thing with walleye if I catch a 6-7# I release it to spawn another day. I was missed informed about the bass in the area and will keep your guys comments in mind. Thanks for the info

5/16/2015 8:34:00 AMThey are voracious predators that will eat out any species and become dominant if left unchecked which is why wdfw won't stock most of our Westside waters with bass. Trout and salmon are the main attractions on this side of the mountains. With that in mind if you want quality bass fishing travel to the potholes and surrounding area where trout are not the main attraction but warm water species are.

5/16/2015 1:18:00 PMNolanb don't take it personal, the people that spaz out about the occasional harvest are the same ones waiting in line to site fish the CRAP out of them when they are bedded and actually SPAWNING! OR the guys that like to swing 5lbers into their boats and let them flop around the bottom while they high five their friends (I believe I saw that one on a video recently ha ha) You did nothing wrong and congrats on actually reading the regs! Bosworth has very clean clear water and I bet she was good eating! Plenty more out there and the West side is phenomenal for bass fishing, it just doesn't get the reputation for numbers and size the East side gets. Please keep posting!
