Fished Banks Lake from Steamboat north for three days. Smallmouth were very hard to find, but got one of note in the shade off of Steamboat, casting a sinking Rapala along the shore. The 15inch walleye were everywhere we fished, which will mean easy limits come July 1.

We mostly trolled, fishing a variety of perch finished lures, such as a Hot Steel colored Minnow Rap, popular in lower light conditions and responsible for our big walleye; a green and bronze wiggle wart, which caught the second largest walleye; a fire-tiger deep-diving shad; and, a fire-tiger shallow shad-rap.

Caught fifteen inch walleye at night catfishing, and casting a spinnerbait.

Tried to keep the lures trolling along in 15 to 18 feet of water, up to 23 in some cases. Not much wind, which made the fishing tough; I find the bites come easier with some wind and waves.

Caught literally hundreds of walleye fourteen to fifteen 1/2 inches long.
