Have not posted in a while. Been to busy fishing lately. Took the wife to clear lake today. We had a good day. Caught 5 between 2-3 lbs and the wife caught her biggest smallmouth ever 5lb 3oz and a decent largemouth just for kicks. Drop shot produced best today. We caught mostly small ones shallot then moved out to 15-20 feet where we caught larger fish. Great day exciting to see the wife high on adrenaline when she hooked the big one and finally landed it.

Chris my suggestion is don't chase reports. so many variables in bass fishing that by chasing reports your missing out on learning potential as well as lake experience. By only going to lakes you see a hot report of the day you could be missing a good bite in your own backyard. I can honestly say ive fished almost every lake in king county and plenty of others and its crazy what just fishing different lakes not knowing If its good or not can do for your learning. Sure your going to strike out some but when it all works out and you hit that homerun it makes it that much more rewarding to figure it out on your own versus just chasing that one guys success.

And the bite can change so much from day to day. So what the report says, may not work out the following day.

i am on clear alot. only for kokanee. i would like to try and learn bass. do you keep any for a fry? I ate some years ago, and it was very good. many people just catch and release. i eat my fish. so. you just throw jigs?

It's ok to eat a bass now and then. You just have to remember that they have to spawn/repopulate by themselves. The fish and game dept doesn't have a hatchery for them like they do for trout. So the only way we can keep fishing for and catching them is by mostly catch and release. And don't forget the slot limit.

Only fish for the sport of it. Like AMX said our bass are naturally repopulated. If a lake gets overpopulated with little ones it's not bad to keep some but that is rare in Washington.

I've fished Clear lake the last two weekends. My first time ever there. Finally caught my first decent Smallie last weekend. I'll be there again Saturday. Found some good deep spots 12-20 fow with weeds, so hopefully I can get a really nice one on top water. Went through a bag of roboworms last weekend. Nice looking fish there!!
