7/17/2015 10:59:00 AMWe enjoy fishing there but I'm a bit confused what you meant by "caught one fish that was in the no keeper range of 12-17 inches." I've seen fish between that range taken out of there. Could you please elaborate on why 12-17 inchers are not allowed as keepers? ((((Fish On))))

7/17/2015 12:37:00 PMit's call a 'slot limit', not allowed to be kept. It's in the regulations, lots of people don't read the regulations. And lots of people don't give a crap about regulations, they are called poachers, and they are criminals.

7/17/2015 12:55:00 PMYeah Bobber, for largemouth bass which is what I primarily fish for there is an odd range for keepers. Your allowed to keep five fish total per person, your not allowed to keep any fish between the range of 12-17 inches, and you can only have one fish above 17 inches. Usually I throw back larger fish since they have such a slow growing time in the pnw, so I usually end up taking home five smaller ones under 12 inches.

7/17/2015 2:05:00 PMYou keeping these to eat?? I thought people just fished largemouth for tournaments and TV shows......seriously though. How much are you eating? Have you read the Mercury warnings on largemouth in the regs? I always just catch and release bass but if they're good maybe I'll have to keep a few too. I dunno......I grew up eating perch, walleye, and pike. Sometimes a smallmouth and crappie. But never do I remember dad bringing home largemouth as dinner. Am I wrong?

7/17/2015 4:08:00 PMwell as a whole, mercury levels accumulate in any fish in the lake, mercury stays in the fat more than the muscle and bass are a less fatty fish so they do have slightly more mercury but its not at a level that I worry about, and its also slightly lower than the national average of this type of fish across the usa. it seems like all lake fish have some type of mercury in them, im from arizona where levels are above national average due to all the mining there and we always used to eat bass since I was a little kid, so long answer short, yeah I eat them, great to fillet so theyre boneless and you can grill or fry, your choice, but they are a great tasting white meat fish similar to perch and similar to pike.
