A few times I have hooked up the boat the night before I was planning on fishing and then was sick or didn’t sleep well so I didn’t go. Last night I woke at 1:30am didn’t get back to sleep until 4:00am. Woke up coughing and felt like my head was in a vacuuming packer bag with the pump on. I took some allergy pills and felt better and decided that I would go to Clear Lake and fish the evening! I don’t recall doing that before.
I got on the lake about 3:30pm. The motors started fairly quickly which I was happy about. They haven’t run since I put salt-away in them in August.
I started fishing at 4pm. I tried 6 different dodgers’ and lures. I was over by the yellow catamaran when one of the lures got stuck on a rope by the buoy. So watch out. I think I have lost one there before. It is between the shore and the buoy but close to the buoy. It is a rope that is partly submerged. I brought it up just enough to see it before my line broke and it fell back down.
I continued to troll with just one rod. I had gone from 30 feet of water to 80 and 15-40 feet on the downrigger cable without a single bite. The wind was kicking up, too. It made it hard for short periods of time. Then it would die down.
I had to fix my fish finder since it thought I was still on salt water and since I am not familiar with it, it took that couple of hours to get it to where I could see fish on it
It was 6pm and I thought that I would troll toward the launch on the north side of the lake and then go in if I didn’t get a hit. I saw a big white ball on the FF screen. I have never seen anything like that before so I started going faster then slowing down. I got the hit. I got it into the boat with a Dick Nite PINK HYPNOSIS UV dodger with a Wannafish A Lure Pink Splatter Squiddy Thing. Nice kokanee. I tried to find the ball again but I couldn’t. I was in 50-60 foot of water with downrigger set at 26 feet. I only saw a few fish on the finder with only two bites after that. I stopped fishing at 6:45pm.
It was a cloudy breezy evening and the water temperature went between 68 to 69 degrees.

We are in a battle! Angler against fish! We need an arsenal of weapons and at my site you will find some of those different weapons. For all those who wannafish a lure come in and take a look at WannafishALure.com.

Do you mind me asking where you got that dodger?

DJ Butler, I got it through Dick Nite Spoons but they have had them at Sportco. Their inventory shows a lot right now.
