Me and one of the boys hit finnicky again today. Both had limits in about 3 hours. A few nice fat boys about 13-14. Maybe 1 that wasnt quite 10". Just a few regulars there, not busy at all. One of the old timers lost a tackle box last Friday, it is a woodland camo color fairly large and full of gear. If anyone happend to find it please let me know, I dont think he comes on here, but i will see him often enough I could get it to him. The other regular there, is always there even the whole summer when nothing was there to be caught. Says he caught more fish the last week than he had since june.
We were there last Saturday as well, 1 shy of 2 limits then, those were all 11-14. Most are the fresh planters, but there were actually some carry overs from last year popping into the catch. Big difference in meat color and quality. I am going to attempt to smoke them this week, never used my charcoal smoker, might as well practice on these guys. Is it best to fillet them, or can you smoke them whole?
Sorry no pics, forgot to get one since I headed to bed and let the 19yo clean them.

Make sure you fillet them. You will be much happier with the results. What were you fishing with (bait/gear)? I have been to Fenwick with no luck but I'm not sure what to use there.

Nice, were you in that raft on Saturday? I was out there too, beautiful lake. I smoked my fish and they turned out great

Smoke em whole minus the head and tail After about 20 minutes pull one out, and see if you can easily pull out the dorsal fin with bones attached. If you can, then do the same with the anal film. Then gently wiggle out the spine, rib bones should come along with it. Instant boneless trout. I then lay the fish completely open back on the grates to finish the smoking.

Bait was power eggs and worm.
No raft, fished from the docs and the park.
Thanks for the smoking tips guys.

If you've never smoked before make sure to use non-iodized salt in your brine. Fish will have a metallic taste if you don't.

Was there a few times the last couple of weeks. Limited each time. Used bobber 2-3ft leader. Got a few with a pink rooster tail.
