My wife and I fished Conconully Reservoir from May 21st thru the 25th. We stayed at Liars Cove Resort and had a great time. The weather was great (although a bit windy in the afternoons and evenings) and the fish plentiful. As might be expected, the reservoir was quite low for this time of year due to the rain and snow shortfall. We trolled flies exclusively - careys, carey buggers, wooly buggers, and Spratleys and caught fish in the 8 to 10 inch range. Most were released. I also took my float tube to the upper lake a couple of times in the early morning where the fish were a little fatter and ran up to 12 inches.

The highlight of the trip was that my wife hooked and landed a nice 3 lb 1 ounce rainbow (triploid) using a spratley in front of the Dam. At least, I got to net it.

We also took a side trip one morning up to Blue Lake about 10 miles north of Conconully. Fishing was slow. I hooked (and lost) what I estimated to be about a 16 inch rainbow, but that was the only action we had.

We have stayed at Liars Cove Resort for as long as I can remember and Arnie and Nita Grahn are great hosts. We always have a good time at Conconully and will continue to test the waters in the future.
