Well, Eastern Wash can't all be great...

Went to Lost Lake near Bonaparte Lake on 5/3 looking for eastern brooks.

Found some, but not as many as I would like.

The lake itself was very pretty. No motors...even better. Pressure for a Saturday was light, only a few boats plus my little rowboat. Calm, warm bright day. Got a late start, started with all black 1/16th Rooster Tails, usually a good producer for brookies under sunny conditions. Got bit every fifteen minutes or so, brooks averaging 13 to 15" Nice brookies. The fly fellas were doing much better, obviously the trout were keying on insects, primarily #10 green bodied Careys or just a spun deerhair, but sunk fly, slowly trolled/erratically stripped on intermediate clear sink line.

I got bit more frequently when I tipped the Rooster Tails with a bit of nightcrawler. Hooked approx a dozen brookies in three hours. Met some great folks at the campground. Getting there was easy from Bonaparte Lake road, paved/good dirt all the way to lake.

On my way to Black Pine Lake for westslopes.

Thanks for the report on Lost, a lot of snow this year. Had to buy zinc headheaded jigs to comply with lead ban up there and I believe electric motors okay. Usually use Bonaparte for base camp to fish surrounding lakes (most have lead ban r/t loons).
