Fished less and pulled the kids on the tube more this year during our
trip to Wapato Point, but did get some time in. It was windy and we
actually got blown off the water a couple of times as it was too windy
to troll.

The silvers were harder to find and catch this year. We only caught
4 the whole trip. With the kids I had three poles going on the down-
riggers, using wedding rings tipped with corn, kokanee candy and a
variety of dodgers and pop gear. I fished for kokes from Wapato Point
down towards Mill Bay Park as I had done in previous years.

I only spent about 5 hours total after lakers or Chinook. I used the
same Silver Horde plug I got the big one on last year, but got no bites.
There were two guide boats fishing near me that were doing well with
dodgers and a green squid. They looked to be targeting lakers off
Mill Bay Park. They had electric trolling motors and were going really
slow. There is a hump that comes up to about 120 or so off the park
and folks were concentrating there effort there. I was marking a lot
of fish right on the bottom there.

This year we tried dock fishing for the stocked rainbows in the late
evenings. Used a sliding sinker and a 3-4 foot leader to power bait
and had great success off both sides of Wapato. We caught 4-5 per
evening that were up to 13 inches in length. The kids had a blast
with my ultralight poles and all 3 got to reel in fish. We got more
hookups when I switched from single egg hooks to size 18 trebles.
