Went out the morning to try to catch some Kokanee had a bulging sidewall on the boat trailer I noticed after I launched the boat. My wife being the awesome Trooper she is took the boat trailer to get the tire fixed while I fished with the kids. After a couple hours of trolling ended up with 1 rainbow trout definitely not the Kokanee we were looking for. Left in the middle of the afternoon after some water skiers and tubers made the water really choppy and my wife returned with the trailer. All in all not a bad day considering what could have happened had the tire blown out.

Thanks for the report. Not as many kokanee in the lake this year. If you get one it probably will be close to 15 inches. Go figure that WDFW would raise the limit when there aren't as many to catch.

kokanee, are pretty cyclic, on most all the lakes. the limit being raised, hurt nothing, except the sculpins dinner. how can ten hurt, if first you cant put five in the boat? The plant, two years ago, was 42,500. Im sure next year, will be more normal. My next recomendation, is to try triploiding. It works elsewhere. the fish live longer, therefor grow more. If the food could be increased, this would help as well. Seems to be mostly a climate thing. Many of our usual lakes, are acting oddly, this season. Dont blame a ten fish limit. those first five are hard enough to put in the boat. For those of us who are on the lake, on a good bite, or, have the fishes number, ten is a good limit. All our lakes should be ten. more, should be 16. Summit used to be. And they ran 14.5", each mid july. I may grab chuck, and hit clear tomorrow. as a demonstration. lol. Or, we may decide on summit. I usually can make the clear fish bite. One way, or another. Never killed a koke, that dident have it comming, in any case. tight lines all.

doc no one blamed a 10 fish limit. Before June 1st I knew that it would be hard to get a 10 fish limit because there were less fish. That is why they are bigger this year. July 7, 2014 they planted 40,138 kokanee fry. Larry Phillips from WDFW said that Clear Lake was consistent and it was. Until this year.
I suspect it might be off next year too.

today, being the 3rd, i was up early, and, decided not to go fishing. the weather had the feel, of no kokanee bite. often, when its a cloudy, and between stable and shakey, they are the hardest to coherce. lol. i will try soon. it will be nice to see them in late september.
