Went on a 2.5 fishing trip with a group of gents from church.

Rented a cabin at Potholes state park.

Caught some perch (small), small mouth bass (small), and decent size large mouth bass at Corral Lake.

Went cat fishing as well, only caught one (1) nice one.

But, the one catfish made my trip a success.

some specifics please. Where on the lake, depth, gear and bait? Reason asked is that I have a friend who just moved here from Texas and wants to know if that fishery exists here in central WA. We live in Wenatchee but fish the basin regularly (banks for walleye tomorrow) Have never fished for cats but sure have eaten a lot of them while traveling in the South. Catfish and hushpuppies barns down there like hamburger joints up here. Has anyone fished the central Columbia for them?

Morning -

1. I have never fished potholes, so don't know the area well.
-we turned off main road, past Mardon a few miles (don't remember street). But, was a little dirt access road.

2. No idea on depth
-we eye balled the best spot we could from shore and give it a shot.

3. Bait - I normally use chicken liver. But, we forgot. So settled for Berkley - liver dough balls. Bait stays on really well. But, don't think I would honestly purchase again. Served its purpose that day.

4. Fish and hush puppies, yum! I was born in Ohio, so I know about some good fish, grits, and hush puppies.

5. Most people like to fish for trout in WA. Not my deal, unless I'm catching monsters! You won't here a ton of folks posting or talking about catfish reports.

6. Yes, catfish fishery is alive and well in WA. It's better fishing for them Eastern WA (just my opinion). Don't know anything about Wentachee.
