Took the long drive out to Neah Bay with fishing partner Tom for some salmon slammin. We chose Neah Bay over Westport as we'd have more choices if the weather didn't cooperate. It did. Rolling then flat on Sunday and more moderate but rolly all day on Monday.

We ended up fishing about 6 miles SSW of Tatoosh Island. On Sunday Tom got a clipped silver right away and we threw it back as it was early and we wanted something bigger. We got our two kings and I got a silver, then we spent the day unhooking kings and big wild silvers trying to get that clipped fish. We used Coyotes behind Hot Spots, Grand Slam bucktails and Silver Horde plugs. We had fish attack them on the surface as we were letting it out, as we were dropping down, and while trolling. One silver hit hard enough on the surface it took the flasher about 4 feet sideways on the strike! We had close to 40 fish to the boat on Sunday! Tried to use rigs with one single hook so we could unhook easy and injure less. Both silvers were about 4 pounds, the kings 10 and 12 pounds. What a day!

On Monday I needed to get home, so we didn't throw a keeper back. We limited by 9:30 but had to work for the last king as opposed to silver. Tom got a 15 pound king, mine was about 12.

The folks camped next to us were running to the Canadian side of Swiftsure 35 miles each way and returning with 8 halibut and a couple of salmon each day. My little Arima was happy we didn't want to go that far. Next stop Lake Chelan!
