After the dismal fishing down South, decided to go North the next day! Missed the crack of dawn due to drive time and my inability to get up before 4:30 (grin). Launched at Washington Park at about 7:00.

Fished for Kings at Indian Village on Guemes. Ran a 5" Kingfisher behind a Fish Flash and Tom ran a Hot Spot and a Coho Killer. Saw one small Chinook caught of the 20-ish boats fishing there. Moved over to Eagle Bluff at tide change. Tom switched to a squid and strip and was rewarded with 5 or 6 doggies in quick succession. I even got one on my spoon!

Then we went West and did something really unique and fun... In the area between Roche Harbor and Stuart Island, people intercept schools of pinks and cast jigs at them. You see a couple of pinks jump and suddenly 20 boats (from Zodiacs to yachts) are blasting towards them, stop and cast jigs. The action was pretty quick and fun. At one point I was pulling my jig up and just at the point when I could first see it in the water, 7 or 8 pinks swarmed at it from all directions. They crashed into each other and nobody got the jig! Tom and I only kept one pink a piece, and Tom outfished me about 10-2, but it was still a hoot! Next time I'm going to bring a spinning rig for that.

We didn't make it out to Lime Kiln because of the wind, so I can't say if there were any kings out there or just more pinks.
