I met up with my friend Jason at the beach north of the Hatchery Zone. We arrived just before the low tide change. Fishing looked pretty promising since we could see chums jumping around in front of the beach. The only problem was that the chums were jumping farther out than we could cast. The out-going tide brought the chums a little closer to shore but we still could not cast far enough. School after school of chums went by and we just couldn't get them. Need less to say it was pretty frustrating. After a couple of hours attempting to catch the chums we gave up and headed home. I wish I had taken my boat!

I've been too busy/lazy to report it, but the same thing happened to me last weekend. They were about twice as far out as I could cast. Blasted chum!
