Another good day out on the water. Went out with my buddy and started fishing about a half hour before slack tide, It took us longer to catch our bait today so we got a late start. Sill managed 4 lings, all of which faught great. Kept a slender 29 incher about 7-8 lbs. My buddies fish was over 30 inches and weighed in at about 11 lbs. We also caught about 20 sea bass combined as well.

Unfortunately I cant say where in area 9 I'm fishing. Its not a very well known place, and my buddy would kill me because its his spot not mine. The sea bass we are catching dont have much size to them, only a pound or 2 and we are basically free drifting shiner perch to get them with lighter tackle. But your right, they are delish! Too bad you can keep them this year. The one thing I can say is the reason we are doing so well is because we are using live bait. That is the biggest secret. Ling cod love shiners, pile perch, sea perch, eels, candle fish ect.... They are super easy to get if your launching from a marina or near a pear. You used to be able to keep as many as you want but the limit is 15 now. You can catch shiner in mukilteo on your way out to possession or you can catch them in edmonds if you fish the pier out there which has also been great for lings this year. My buddy got a 37.5 incher that weighed in at 18.5 lbs the other day but had to let it go because of the new regs. he also landed a 41 incher at our secret spot the first day we went out. spot it had to go back.
