I had a free evening, and the weather was unexpectedly nice, so I went down to Shilshole Marina for some squidding. There were maybe 6-8 other fishermen there at any one time. Started fishing about a half hour after sunset. Caught my first squid within minutes, and at about 6:40pm a school came by in a sudden rush. Some of the squid were actually jetting and splashing across the surface, which I had never seen before. For about 5 or 10 minutes I caught them just about as fast as I could haul them in. Then it slowed to a steady catch rate every few minutes, which continued over the evening. I quit at 8pm when I had three pounds of squid. I would have stayed longer, but I didn't want to be up until midnight cleaning squid. I keep seeing the same people fishing for squid every time I go down to Shilshole, and they talk like they go squidding every other night. I don't know what they do with all that squid. They are a friendly bunch though. It's always very enjoyable.

Goodness its nice to see that real squid really do match the glow squids in my tackle box. I like that iridescent green eye. Thanks.

Great to see bait of any kind in Area 10 this time of year. I'm guessing that is why they have been catching a few more blackmouth during the Tengu this season compared to the past few years. Thanks for the great report and picture. Fried calamari, mmm good!
