Well we launched the boat out from the Everett marina before noon as I had decided to sleep in and headed to Shipwreck. For once I was going to be prepared but as luck would have it not only did I oversleep but I left the herring in the freezer. We passed the Mukilteo ferry dock and my friend asks where should we drop the lines and I reply Shipwreck and then head south to Picnic Point and then go north. Destination found and one line goes in the water. While untangling a leader and a hook from the evil net my even more evil friend almost immediately (on a Red Racer Coho killer) hooks into a fish but it's a Chinook (so back it goes). 1/2 hour and two shakers later using my gear (again) he hooks into the big fish of the day (maybe 9).

My day wasn't going so well. I started with a splatter back hoochie squid (forgot the herring). Noticing that the Coho killers were working I switch over to some yellow with green one. Danged brat has yet another possible fish (loses it and I cheered inwardly). At this point I'm at the helm with reckless abandon going left and then right and my rod pops during one of the turns. Bingo a 7 pound coho female (This is my 8th hen this year... where the heck were the girls when I was younger).

I'd later lose a fish near Whidbey island, sucker crossed lines and got free. We should have called it a day at that point but noooo we stayed out until the sun started to go down. Heading to the marina in the dark (again) is not fun!

Thanks for the report. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.
