Fished Alice Lake for just over 2 hours at midday today. There were probably 12 to 15 others fishing, with an equal mix of spin and fly fishers. Alice was stocked this week and the water was almost constantly ringed with rises. Many fish were within a foot of the surface. It took me a while to get dialed in but a small dark dry fly and a trailing small dark nymph were the ticket. The right fly would have been an emerger fished in the film just under the surface. Two hours of fishing brought just over 12 fish all ranging from 9 to 12 inches. The three fish caught on the dry fly were the largest. This was my first trip to Alice but it will not be my last.
