Stopped by the mouth of the Tolt this morning. Fished for about an hour with no luck when I just happened to look down on the ground and saw an old sandshrimp which was in pretty gd shape. So needless to say I rigged it up and on the second cast BAM a nice native which I released. What a nice day it was. I guess I will be getting some sand shrimp next time out lol.

That's quite amazing you caught some pinks they must be pretty old. But that sounds like a good way to fish the Tolt. One reason the bait might work well in the Tolt is because this is only the 3rd year its been open for the winter steelhead season and also the 3rd year its been open to use of bait. I frequent the upper Tolt and the forks in the summer and there has been an insane increase in the amount of a Steelhead Smolt in the river in the past couple years. This river is turning out to be a great Steelhead river as it once was if your willing to get out and wade and walk a little there are some big pools and some big fish. Good luck to all and please keep it clean.(catch and release)
