well it was my first time on the puyallup fishin for steelhead i got there about 3:30 and within the first half hour of fishing i caught what i thought was a snag at first then it started moving and right then i new it was a steelhead so after a 4 or 5 minute battle i brought her in, put her on my little 8lb zebco scale it maxed out so im guessing around 9 or 10 lbs. then i let her back in the river fished for about an hour after that then left. it was my first steelhead ever i was pretty stoked about it. still kinda am. wish i had a camera going back today with a camera

You left the fish out of the water long enough to get your scale out and weigh it?

good job letting it go, hatch or native, but sometimes when you take them out of the water too long they will die, catch enough of them and youll be able to eyeball the size, remember 1 hen can produce dozens of babies, some of these guys that say "oh I would of killed it "are the same folks who have to throw away fish out of the freezer because it is too old, keep catching and releasing and the fish gods will be good to you.

That's very commendable releasing your first steelhead ever. For the sweat you get from people for taking the time to weigh it... I say maybe you have your scale in your pocket, and it's a quick boom/boom weigh.... Nobody can say that you went hunting through your gear looking for a scale. I don't know that I will be able to release my first hatchery steelie when it comes. Your rewards will come back to you.

Well said quad ,everyone was there and seen everything or are we being presumptious in our thinking?Probably the best fishing day ever for him and you guys look at the negatives and how you can make his reporting his best day ever into a bad experiance shame on you !!!!As far as releasing fish whether you do or dont its your choice to make not ours so until its on the end of your line be nice or dont say anything at all please!!!!Great job on your fish bro it was your day!!!

she was a hatchery and she was out of the water for about a minute then i let her back in and she swam right away no blood it was a pretty clean catch.yeah i was pretty stoked didnt keep it cause i didnt have a bag to put it in, definitely didnt wanna clean it in freezing ass water and i know steelies are low in numbers so hopefully my release will help more come back next year
