This is another report that I wasnt going to make, but after reading Fish-Bait111397's Skokomish River report,I had to mention how different my experience was.I was planing a trip out to the Puget Sound, when I mentioned to my 10 year old son that the Skokomish was opening on August 1st.He just about went crazy and demanded that we go to the Skoke and save the Puget Sound for another day, this wasnt really funny because I wanted to go out on the Sound. After arguing about it all day on Saturday, and after getting MOM involved I was outnumberd and it looked like I was going to the Skoke!!!!! Dont get me wrong, this is a great river, but I had other ideas and it really is a mad house on opening day!!!We started fishing the next morning at 6;00 am.My 10 year old was the life of the party!!!Not one person gave him any trouble, said kids cant fish or anything else of the nature. The complete opposite was true, everybody liked him and couldnt believe what a great fisherman he was.He easily had more hookups than most of the adults and everybody cheered him on and smiled and I believe he made the day for a lot of people.Anyone who dosent think kids belong on the river should realize that they were once a kid too.We need to educate kids not discourage them, these guys are the future and the ones who will be keeping these fisheries alive when we are gone!!!

Wow, it looks like a mad house on the river there. That's a lotta folks out! I wonder if it'd be any better middle of the week, I want to catch some fish as much as the next guy, but having room for your elbows is always nice too. I agree that kids should be out on the river. Like I told fish bait, I've been out there since I was six, every year, and I'm sure all the kids that grew up where I did were too. I'll take a kid fishing over most of my buddies anyways, they complain less and catch more fish! Hahaha! Thanks for the report!

Thanks for the comment everybody ,I can't say what time of the week would be best to go,the nets have a huge effect on the fishing and who knows how long it will last, all you can do is go and give it a try.I know that the tides play an important role in this fishery, and even if your fishing the upper river, you will benefit from the tide changes. This is a river that you will have to explore for yourself, which should be easy because its not very big.The hardest part about that is being able to find a parking place!!!Good Luck out there!!
