so i finished my day off at the deschutes. this was at request of a friend who wanted to know how it was. now keep in mind this river at this time of year has so many fish in it you can walk across them. they are boot fest but super fun. anyways there where zero! i talked to a guy who fishes the river like at least once a week for trout. he says he has seen two all season. he to said that the river should be over flowing with fish. he even got the release days from the hatchery and fished it on those days and the days after with no luck and saw no fish. definetly weird anyways it is still a great river for trout, and parts of it are open year round.

REMEMBER! The year long parts are selective gear rules. The deschutes is a nice river, alough, as some of you may seen in my report, difficult to fly fish because of trees galore!

Deschutes is right in my back yard, and yes normally tons of salmon this time of year. I have been looking every day for the past few weeks and have only seen one. I checked the holding pen at the falls two weeks ago and they were stacked up in there. Should have seen more by now. Maybe low return or release numbers, maybe late? At least the trout bite has been good lately.
