Fished the Puyallup across the street from the Toyota dealership from about 11a-4p. Went 4 for 8 so I can't really complain. Three of 'em were nice and bright. One sorta looked like a discus fish. lol.

6 foot leader, size 1 hooks, and I threw a variety of colors in the orange and red variety. (I'm not sure it matters at the moment)

Like someone else said, the fish were definitely coming in waves and the fishing was good for about 5 or 10 minutes and then it'd die for a half hour or so. Let's hope for a light rain and I imagine the fish are gonna come storming in. Looking forward to going back.

One observation for the day... I thought I'd do a little surveying and see if the people around me knew the regs. That was entertaining. ;)

Out of the 7 people I asked, nobody knew the catch record code (it's 804 if you're curious) and only 1 person actually knew what the limit was.

For those who can't read the regs for whatever reason, here's the limit for the Puyallup:
Min. size 12". Daily limit 6. Up to 4 adults may be retained, of which
only 2 may be any combination of CHINOOK, COHO, and CHUM.
Release wild adult CHINOOK.

SOOOO, remember this means you can keep 4 pinks...not a dozen..not a cooler full. (unfortunately, I saw a handful of people who seemed to be having a hard time counting to four)

The trash problem is really annoying. How hard is it to pack out your trash. I saw guys who pulled in some old line w/hooks they snagged while drifting and they just throw it back in the water. There is a real lack of respect for the fishery and the sad thing is most people dont care. They will take every last fish and then find something else to exploit.

You guys have all just described the reasons you wont find me combat fishing on the Puyallup. Just not horney enough for a 4 lb Humpy to deal with that. I can watch it on the news for a good laugh.

Finished fishing slow. Only to return to out trucks only to find there is a thief out there so be careful parking behind Moma Stortini's.

Sometimes you have to get your hand out and count on your fingers to get someone to understand the limit. Of course when the lightbulb goes off in their head and they get what it is you are trying to say (or act taht way anyway), they immediately go back to exceeding their limits and smilling with their friends that are exceeding their limits.
Frustrating at times how they can play dumb so well.
That said, I give anyone a chance if they break a reg but after being told what it is they're doing wrong they correct it immediately.

Wow, how sad am I ranting and I aint even been on the river yet LOL. OK back to lurking. Good luck guys.
