Another great day on the banks! Yesterday a couple of my friends hit the Duwamish and blanked. One of em and I were hitting the water this morning. Hmm Snohomish or Duwamish? Decisions decisions… My buddy says “your call” and I thought – why not, lets hit the Duwamish and see if we can find some fish. So we met up at the crack-o-dawn at 112th. Nothing much going on there, so went upstream to one of my spots. Fished it for about an hour and nothing. Not looking good. I decided we needed to scout out some new territory, so we hit the road. The fishing gods were with us and guided us to a good spot, in fact now one of my favorites (don't bother asking where). We parked and started walking in and I forgot my sunglasses. So went back to the truck and by the time I can see the river again my buddy is hooked up. I cast – BAM fish on. Big ol buck bonked. In the next two hours I got 3 bucks and a hen and my buddy got 5 hens. Limit is 6, so neither of us limited, but how can you complain about nine fish in a couple hours! I also ended up selling 9 of my self-tied jigs to another couple guys on the bank, made $20 on the deal. The only down side was I lost the jig I have been using since the season opened. Ended up landing 19 fish with that little sucker. Hopefully this one has the same mojo.

Are you noticing more hookups with the shorter marabou, oppose to one with a longer tail?

Knotabassturd - 1/4oz... /... kingfisher101 - read my Snohomish reports for my setup..../... pendletonjohn - who needs a float? .../... losaturn - YES!... /... kzoo - you're not gonna believe it, this old timer gave me the recipe and I didn't believe it until I tried it. I have a little jar with a mixture equal parts of lime juice (lime, NOT lemon), soy sauce and vegetable oil. Dip the jig in it about every 5 casts and pinks GO NUTS for it! Heck I was pulling one in and there were two more following trying to hit the jig!

Read the regs...the limit is 2 ADULTS and 4 others....which means you can only keep 4 pinks......NOT 6....people like you that dont read the regs is becoming an everyday problem with the world.

DeepHoleFishin - Maybe it is YOU that needs to read the regs my friend, if you did, you would see: Min. size 12". Daily limit 6. Up to 3 adult COHO and CHUM (combined) may be retained. Release CHINOOK..... Where does it day "Adults"?.... Where does it day you can only keep 4 pinks??... Yes you are right "people like you that dont read the regs is becoming an everyday problem with the world. " and since we are reciting regs - to be clear, my "secret" formula - I only use it where bait is legal - I do NOT use it on the Duwi.

DeepHoleFishin, Gringo is probably the most ethical angler I know on this site. BTW, if you're saying "2 ADULTS and 4 others" sounds like you can only keep 2 adult salmon of any species, meaning only 2 pinks, others are typically jacks.

I would like to know some good spots to fish off the bank for pinks. I usually fish underneath the foot bridge rite by the Boeing building or just back a ways by the electrical plant thing. You guys don't sapose you can hook me up with a good spot?

GP- I had an older gentleman telling me I could only use 1 barbless hook in the salt when fishing Dash Pt. I didn't want to upset him since he was at least trying to do the right thing (in his mind) so I took off a barbless Gamak hook and went back to fishing with one barbless. After that he was actually pretty nice. At least this person isn't on the river telling you you can only keep 4 ;-) And I would at least give them the benefit that the Duwi/Green is one of a few spots where 6 adult salmon can be retained.
