Took a trip to the Cowlitz on Sunday with my buddy and his drift boat. We put in at Blue Creek and used an electric motor to work the areas above the boat launch. We drift fished with eggs and sandshrimp, trolled bait divers and threw float and jig combinations with no luck. Seems that most of the fish caught were below the boat launch which we could not fish because we wanted to take out at the launch and could not fight the faster current below the launch. Never saw a fish caught above the launch but heard of some fish caught below the launch and off the bank. River was in great shape so we were quite disappointed with our results but the rain held off and we didn't break anything....so it could have been worse. Hate to make all that effort and burn gas to strike out when we could have done the same thing a lot closer to home but that is fishing.
