Fish are still being caught on the river. this one wass 8lb 1oz, a few other guys I talked to were catching a few that were bigger recently. I herd of a 18lb fish being caught in the Boundry res last weekend. The water is high, murky and swift swift because the gates are open. Got that look on my face cus I accidently got a my finger in its teeth.

I caught this one in a slough, but I was also trolling the main river and hitting the creek arms as well. I was using different large spinner baits, spoons and magic swimmers but they seemed to like a small yellow rooster tail in shallow ambush spots.

Ponderay Newsprint Co, located in Usk, released more than 178,000 pounds of toxic chemical waste into the Pend Oreille River in 2007.The facility was the 3rd largest reported polluter of toxic chemicals in Washington in 2007. Ponderay Newsprint Co. buys 90 percent of the power generated by the Box Canyon Dam. Apr 17, 2009. After years of negotiation, a final settlement has been reached on the appealed conditions of the Box Canyon Hydroelectric Project license renewal. The conditions that have been changed since the issuance of the 50-year license granted to Box Canyon Dam in 2005 include improved fish passage, a tributary habitat restoration plan, and a recreation resource management plan. Organizations involved in this settlement include Ponderay Newsprint, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Bureau of Indian Affairs.
