Well, we've been having a good few days on the Skykomish. With the water low, we've been dropping down on our gear and it's been paying off. We put in our time and have found a nice amnount of fish.

Had some downtime today and yesterday, so I spent some time in the upper river with Lady and we tried for some fish. Yesterday I didn't realize that I had used up all my 6 pound leader, so it was a choice between 12 and 4 pound test. The only thing I could get them to bite on was 4 pound, but man was it a blast. They would bite it and rocket clear across the river. Hooked one and it went up three feet out the water, and crazy flips. I was pretty impressed with the amount of pressure that you can put on a fish with the wimpiest line. But for now I'll stick with 6 or 8 flourocarbon. We went 1/9 fising the evening bite. Small and sweet is the ticket right now. Size two hooks and trout beads have been picking up the majority of our fish, and use a tiny bit of yarn as the sun goes behind the clouds.

Picked up a few dollies on jigs with gold flash and hit a few kings this week on eggs under a float. The Chinook are camped out in the lower river waiting for rain, they'll come up a few at a time, but it's nothing like it was in the early season. Taking the day off tomorrow, but I'll see you back out on the water on Saturday bright and early.

It usually does the trick. Although I'd fish lower down, the king action at the mouth has been slow, the fish have either been dropping down to the Sultan or holding above in the bend in the closed waters. The mouth is just not Chinook friendly right now, they don't stick around long. Try the ranch hole, or some of the spots along Ben Howard road, they've been producing a lot better for us.
