I just wanted to mention something, in regards to felt sole wader boots. Many states, including Oregon, have outlawed the use of felt soled shoes for wading. There is considerable concern for the spread of pathogens and noxious weed species from system to system when using felt. Biological material can become lodged in the fabric of the felt, and transports readily between waterways. In the past, when felt was used, it was recommended to BOIL the soles between uses to destroy any potential hitchhikers, this is however extremely inconvenient. Presently, they have not devised a successful replacement for felt in the field, and unfortunately the banning of felt soles in Washington State seems inevitable. Felt is still legal here in our state, but if you plan on using it, please take extra precautions when fishing in different river systems. As a fisheries biologist, my colleagues and I have already started phasing out the use of felt in the workplace. I wear Redington "Sticky rubber" boots (they do NOTHING against slime) and add Simms cleats, this only partially helps with the "slip factor".

luis - I think I counted about 13 over on the hatchery side, only saw 2 fish caught while we were within site.
Matt and all - My felts were trashed, so I picked up a pair of boots with the screw in titanium studs, I'm on on year 3 with them and I will NEVER go back! They stick the rocks like glue no matter how mossy they are, then with "normal" boot bottoms you can walk in mud, snow and ice just fine too. I am on the river nearly every weekend and have only replaced maybe a dozen of the studs over the last 3 years. The only drawback is you want to have an extra pair of non-studded boots for boats & stuff because the studs will rip floors apart (you should see the floor of my cataraft (heavy grade plastic), or the stepsides & gas pedal on my truck...
Mike.. There was only one of us listening to the Seahawks, the other was snoring... ;)

At the least I'm getting a wading staff, E-Bay has lots for sale. I hate to buy new boots, maybe I can find cleats that attach. Dang, this can be a pricey sport!
