2/8/2013 10:05:00 AMLOL - Then go try your hand at it. I think you will find it is not as easy as you think. It is heavily pressured, very low, super clear, and you are not fishing in the hatchery.
I grew up fishing the spring creek known as "Silver Creek" in South Central Idaho. I lived an hour from several spring creeks in the Snake River Canyon Twin Falls Idaho. Livingston Spring Creeks in Montana was a common place to fish when I lived in Billings. In Colorado, the tailwater fishery known as the Cheaseman Canyon on the South Fork of the Platt was my go to place, every bit like a spring creek in water clarity and small size.
I have tested my metal and honed my skills, so what about you? Can you do anything but fish with Jigs? ROFLMAO

2/8/2013 12:01:00 PMFrom what I've encountered most Rocky Ford "snobs" are either immature or don't fly fish but have an opinion. What I would like to see is a gathering of these "snobs" at Rocky Ford to view how they handle fly equipment and how they entice educated trout to strike.
I was there about 35 times last year and last time I checked Rocky Ford was about 23 miles up the road and the Montana spring creeks were about 500 miles east. Sort of a no brainer.

2/9/2013 10:41:00 PMI'm curious as to what approach/technique you used to land the larger fish. I was out there Thursday afternoon and most of Friday. Spoke with the owner of the fly shop in Ephrata who said a guy did very well stripping small white leeches. Small olive scuds (18) fished under an indicator or "scudded" (sunk unto a rock and "twitched" when a trout approaches) also brought fish, as did large egg patterns fished in the early morning hours before full light according to Darc (owner). I landed two larger fish (27-28 inches) on blood worms under an indicator. Egg patterns under an indicator also worked fairly well. Landed 10 fish but must have had 10-15 takes each day which were "soft" and was unable to hook up solidly on them.

2/9/2013 11:38:00 PMI have a very small midge larva I tied for the Big Horn River in Montana about 15 years ago. It is like nothing I have ever seen, and I usually don't bother with it, but, as spooky as the fish were, it was the ticket.

2/14/2013 7:13:00 PMWow, I did not know that the fish were out when the water was this cold , I went down there last year around this time of year and over four days got only a baby bass and a small perch, was this over by one of the perch that go in to potholes ?
