Fished chico bay today, focused at the mouth of chico creek. Navigating my little 12' klamath in blinding fog was a little weary. We launched in silverdale and headed what I thought was south along the shore. We ended up almost due east of the launch. Really easy to loose your bearings. Long story short. Thank I phone for their GPS!

Since this was my first time fishing in the salt for chums my buddy and I had nothing other than river tackle. We tied up jigs and floats. We kinda puttered around all day trying to stay amongst the skool of fish which were heavily influenced by the tides. Low slack was a waste, we ended up bombing back to silverdale for lunch and headed back out to catch the incoming tide. We anchored up in what seemed to be the channel of chico creek. We had fished the receeding tied and hooked 2 really brite fish, and fished the same spot on the incoming tied, I hooked 1 about an hr into it. Meanwhile we had been watching a particular area boil with chum. We thought the tide would send them migrating over but it never happened. We pulled anchor and buzzed over into a mini biomass of chum. I saw one other guy hook one right away, and few minutes later I hooked one. estimated 17-18lb buck. over the next 2 hrs I hooked 4 fish 6 total for the day and a flounder. My buddy had 1 chum and a flounder.

I watched another boat consistently hook fish, they were using andchovies under a float. Our jigs hooked fish although I'm convinced its a good technique for the river. All in all it was a gourgous day to be out. Chico bay was glass all day. It was fun watching the fly tossers work their magic. Chums would be a blast on fly tackle.

We were out there from about 11am till 3 or so? Anchored off the point between Chico Bay and Ostrich Bay. and then moved down to the SE side of Chico Bay. Saw one fish caught. Fish jumping everywhere, was insane. Weather was incredible for November.
