It's been a while since I've given you guys a full on report, so this is for the past few weeks.

I've been fishing the Snoqualmie river from Plum down. The fishing has been steadily slow, but we're picking up fish every day. 1 or 2 fish have been coming to the boat reliably. Shiny plugs have been the ticket to putting the fish in the box. I'm sure that you have heard that it's been a slow hatchery fish season, and I'll reaffirm that notion. I'd say 2 out of 3 fish have been natives, and they go back, but they sure can fight!

With the main river closing in a couple of days, we're going to be moving the drift down south, but those of you on the bank will have an extra two weeks to target those fish at their end destinations, the Wallace, the Skykomish upstream of High Bridge and the Snoqualmie are Tokul Creek. Fishing there is as good as it's going to get all year, and fish are being taken daily. On the bank, small 1/8 oz jigs under a float, mini egg sacks under a float and dyed shrimp will give you that fish. Throwing spoons in the boulder gardens below the cable hole on the Sky has been putting out fish as well. Ted's in Lynnwood just got a shipment in of awesome spoon blanks at a killer price and steelhead hate 'em! On any given day, we throw a lot of stuff, but you can rely on the standbys.

After a sleepy hatchery steelhead run on the Puget Sound rivers, moving to the coast has been a breath of fresh air. The Wynoochee and Queets system have finally started to put out some fish, and after February will be our only option for steelhead for a month or two. The good news is that these fish get made bigger and more numerous! The scenery is impossible to beat as well. So if you missed your chance to put some fish on the card this January, give me a call and we'll get you on the books for some revenge fishing. Steelhead season has just started down here, so we're going to put some meat in your freezer yet!
