Birthday +1: I hit the Sky again today, hoping for a repeat, or even better experience than yesterday. I wanted to try some different techniques and use some of those lovely, fresh eggs from yesterday's hen. Right from the get-go at 8:00am there were salmon rolling right in front of me! Ha ha ha they were saying to me. I started with yesterday's winner, a #2 50/50 Dick Nite, tipped with shrimp until it left the hook as expected, but leaving the scent. No takers, but the rocks sure liked my offering and eventually ate my lure. Eggs, yes those lovely, fresh eggs from yesterday's hen would likely do the trick. I floated them for a while with no success. All the while fish were rolling in my face! Snagged my setup and it did not break where designed, so bobber down in the bad sense. I went to fishing eggs off the bottom, floating with a small corky. Snag, snag snag, snag, replaced. Hey something nibbling...? Hook set! It's a bullhead!
He gobbled up all my pretty eggs! Replace, snag, snag, nibble, nibble, hook set! Another bullhead!
Oh did I mention it was absolutely pouring down rain? Like sheets. I was sopped. The best part of the day came, when suddenly my lost bobber began surfacing, then would dive back under. Here I am, come get me if you can...Too far from shore to reach. I had used up my eggs and went to using shrimp near the bottom. snag, snag, hey something is on the line. I hooked the line to my bobber! I pulled it in to retrieve and the bobber came free, gently floating in a back eddy near shore. Bobber retrieved! I tried a silver vibrax spinner, but it too went down on a rock. Wow, I need to spend more time looking for gear when the river is low...
Oh, I wanted to make special mention that yesterday there was a guide and a couple of companions on a boat that were very respectable of my space. This guy fished down stream when I was above and fished some up stream when I was casting below in the river. Thanks also for the kind gestures in response to a successful snag release. He also shared a nice gesture after I netted my fish. He was very professional and a good example for others to follow.
Happy fishing

What part of the Sky are you fishing?

See my post yesterday. The big hint I give is the sound of guns shooting at the nearby range.
Happy fishing!

I would advise you put nothing on dick nite except scent. The shrimp on dick nite is the reason why you snagged and lost your setup.

Hey romanfishing, I am not sure how shrimp on a dick nite could increase the snag potential, but my observation was that it lost its normal action with shrimp included. Maybe without the action it is more susceptible to snags? I ended up using the shrimp for scent and did not replace. In the past I caught a nice Coho with application of herring oil.
