Went to Skykomish downstream from Monroe on a beautiful sunny and chilly Saturday and went Spey casting. After a few hours I hooked up with a nice size Dolly Varden that provided a nice 15 min. fight. A few other's were trying their luck but I saw no fish taken.

A 15 minute fight with a Dolly Varden? Was it a 40 pounder? Any fish that fights for 15 minutes ain't surviving.

Guess I prefer light tackle and giving the fish a chance. By the way, it did not survive; tasted delicious!

I guess, if you consider a spey rod light tackle.

Strongest Trout on Earth! I landed my largest king (50+) pounds in a quarter of that time. Haha hilarious

Petersim, you are one of the few to report any success of any kind on the Skykomish recently. Congratulations on the fish! These other folks have an interesting method of welcoming you to Washington Lakes
