We put in at the Sultan bridge about 6:30am and spent all day fishing our usual spots all the way down to the Ben Howard take-out. I twitched jigs (caught 3) and float fished with the centerpin (caught 1). It was a bit slow but we decided that we had been pretty spoiled past pink seasons and were likely a bit early for the upper stretch of river to produce like it has before. Highlight of the day was hooking this dinner Coho that gave a great fight and was chrome as chrome can be, sea lice and all. A really surprising catch given the time of year and the mediocre amount of pinks we came across.

Nice job on the Coho! I've been seeing a few roll right before dark. Not surprised at al. The river has several runs of coho spread throughout the season well into December. Tomorrow , I may have to drift the frog pattern dicknite. What did you get the coho on?

What condition were your pinks? Ones I've got so far in the Sky got some color on them. I kept a hen last night for the roe and Maria's cooking will get that fish tasting good.

Pinks were colored up. I don't ever fish Dick Nites because I can't keep the trout off and have enough success with jigs and larger spoons. The Coho was caught on a 1/4oz jig with a white head, pink rabbit fur, red thread, and green flash. I was casting and jigging from my pontoon, about a mile up stream from Ben Howard.
