10/8/2015 11:41:00 AMIf the person you saw using a corky and yarn had more than a 4ft leader, he wasnt fishing he was flossing, and shouldnt be looked up to or copied. There is NEVER an occassion where there is a need for a long leader, coho are not shy of sinkers it litterally ads no value. A long leader only increases your chance of snagging/flossing a fish. As a testiment I only use an 18" leader, thats right measured in inches not ft. Coho will take a corky voluntarily so there is no need to floss. This is not accusitory or intended to insult anyone. This is just a friendly reminder that long leaders are not needed.

10/8/2015 3:09:00 PMNow I feel like a fool. Based on your description maybe he was flossing. My leader is the same one I was using for floating eggs which was about 2 1/2ft - 3ft long. His was longer. I still have much too learn.

10/8/2015 4:23:00 PM2 1/2 to 3 is perfect. I go shorter only to prove my point. That guys corky didnt catch the fish it is his excessive amount of line that drift into the fishes mouth that caught the fish. Your not a fool for trying something new, when your new to fishing you wouldnt know.. not your fault... the reason I mention flossing because this is a VERY common accurance on our rivers, and I wanted to see to it you were informed. Flossing is fpr people who cant make a fish bite correctly.

10/9/2015 4:08:00 PMGood to know this. I'm a beginner in fishing for Salmon. So this site is so helpful. I plan on going fishing the Snohomish river on Sat. 9-10-15. Maybe you fisherman can give my friend and I some pointers on where is a good wading spot for Salmon Coho?
