I decided to purge my favorite little pond today. I forgot my tackle bag, so I only had 2 plunk set UPS and a fly rod with No fly. So I took one plunk set up apart, and used the size 6 octopus hook on my flyrod, and kept the other plunk set up in tact. It is a green Corky free sliding above a size 6 octopus hook. I casted the plunk set up in with half a crawler, immediately hooked up with a 9" cutty, I decided I wanted to try fly fishing so I p ut half a worm on the hook, I pulled 15' of line off the spool, I have the line tension with my hand to along shot the line into the water, without a proper cast. Low hanging tree branches and talk grass made it difficult to cast. None the less my bait landed 10-15' from shore each time, and it worked. On my second try I hooked up with a 8" cutt that swallowed it real bad. After 40 minutes I caught a total of 2 cutts with the fly rod, and 3 with the plunk set up, the biggest fish being 10 3/4". I typically release my fish and use flies or spinners, at this pond., I felt like taking a limit this time.
