I hit one of my favorite little rivers in search of wild trout a couple days ago. It proved to be the last time I could fish before departing for college, and it was a great day with plenty of fish to be caught.

Although there is considerable amounts of spawning humpies in the river right now, I still managed to find some trout and other critters of the river. I was greeted at dawn by a tail-slappin' beaver, and headed upriver to fish some of my favorite holes. Managed to catch some nice sized bulls, 3 fish over 20 inches. No pictures of them released them as quick as I could. I don't keep them and don't think anyone should. They were also released alongside several smaller bulls that I caught. Also caught a solid rainbow of 18 inches or so, two smaller 'bows and a couple small cutthroat. All fish were released. There was bits of rain and bits of shine, and overall I couldn't really ask for a better last day in Snohomish County.

As I depart from home and find myself at Western Washington U, I can turn my attention to the Skagit, Sauk, Nooksack and the beautiful waters of British Columbia. It will undoubtably be a little while before I am able to get any fishing in; adjusting to college and not having a personal vehicle will take time and will limit my ability to get on the water.

Until next time, keep them rods bent and them rivers clean!

And I still hope very dearly that all manner of snaggers snap their rods, drop their "gear" in the river and get written up by game wardens.

Tight lines

Well done, and good luck at college! You will have an awesome time exploring the upper stretches of the Skagit system, and I look forward to your reports on it.
